pediatric dentistry

Our love for pediatric dentistry started with Dr. Heidi's first dental position at a public health clinic in Everett, WA, primarily serving children. This experience sparked her passion for making every dental visit a positive experience for our youngest patients.

Our Services Include

Dental Cleaning and Exam
We recommend that our little patients start coming in at age 3 and continue coming every 6 months. Each visit includes a thorough evaluation of their teeth, gums, soft tissues, and any radiographs to diagnose decay or other issues. We'll devise a conservative treatment plan, discuss findings, answer questions, and recommend any orthodontic evaluations when appropriate

Digital Radiographs
This is an important tool in dentistry as it allows us to see your child's teeth and jawbone to detect cavities, impacted teeth, infections, and other issues that may not be visible during a regular exam. Regular intervals for these radiographs vary per patient, and we ensure a conservative approach when conducting them, especially with your children.

Sealants and Fluoride
These are two preventive measures we recommend for protecting your kid's teeth from decay. Sealants are thin plastic coatings applied to their tooth’s chewing surfaces to prevent cavities. While fluoride is a topical treatment that strengthens enamel, making it more decay-resistant. We particularly recommend fluoride varnish for children to safeguard their teeth.

Oral Hygiene Instruction and Pacifier Recommendations
We provide them with personalized oral hygiene instruction, including brushing and flossing techniques, and recommendations on suitable toothbrushes, toothpaste, and other oral care products. We also make special recommendations on how to keep their braces clean. For kids, it is great to hear all these recommendations from someone other than parents to help reinforce. Additionally, we also discuss oral appliances like pacifiers and provide tailored recommendations for parents.

Dental Fillings
Pediatric fillings are a safe and effective treatment. These are placed when a tooth is either damaged from chipping, fracturing, or decay. Composites, or white fillings, are commonly used, to preserve as much of the original tooth as possible, maintaining its original size, shape, and color.
We understand that visiting a general dentist can cause anxiety for some patients–especially for kids. That’s why we prioritize their comfort and open communication. We take time to explain each procedure, answer all your questions, and address any concerns.
