Gum Disease Treatment

 

After your periodontal screening at your cleaning and exam appointment, we will discuss our findings.  If we diagnose gum disease, we will develop a plan with you that may include in office treatment and home care.  The following are common treatments we may recommend:

• a deeper cleaning called scaling and root planing

• placement of an antibiotic in the gums called Arestin

• more frequent cleanings

• referral to a specialist called a periodontist, for severe cases and for gum grafting to treat recession
